Smaller shops can be surprisingly friendly if they care about repeat customers. A product that still looks good after a few months is more impressive than something only good on arrival. Footwear is even harder because different brands cut shoes very differently. Of course we all have different taste, but patterns still appear in long discussions. Over the last months I noticed that some of my favorite items are not the most expensive ones. Reviews that mention long term use are more valuable than comments written on day one.

Clear product descriptions save time and reduce the chance of disappointment. If anyone has long term experience with certain online shops, I am always curious to read it. Sometimes I experiment with different materials just to see how they feel in daily life. Online shops that show detailed measurements and care instructions usually get my attention. Sometimes one good quality item is better than five very cheap ones.
